One in five Nevadans are uninsured, More than 400 thousand Nevada residents between the ages of 18 and 64 are uninsured, More than 100 thousand children in our State are uninsured, More than 200 thousand young adults ages 18 to 34) are without insurance. The rise of unemployment over the past several years had led to an increase of the uninsured. Over 70 % of the uninsured are US citizens and over 50% are employed ( Many of the uninsured report working less than full time and/or work for employers that do not offer employer-sponsored insurance ). The uninsured are disproportionally communities of color and lower income. In order to protect our community from being unprepared about health issues, C.A.R.E. is reaching out to people and organizations to create awareness about the new healthcare act and all the benefits that already our community members can access.
